Our technology
Developed by New Zealand scientists, for New Zealand farmers.
What is Tnue’s Control Release Technology®?
Tnue’s Control Release Technology® is a micro-thin membrane applied to the fertiliser granule, shielding urea and allowing it to be released as the plant needs the nitrogen.
Urea is the most widely used nitrogen fertiliser. Being extremely soluble, it can result in unintended consequences including leaching and environmental damage, losses of nitrogen to the atmosphere, and operational inefficiencies.
Tnue tailor the membrane to the varying conditions across New Zealand. It releases nitrogen depending on soil temperature and soil moisture, to sustain plant growth. Moisture is absorbed by the membrane, and disssolves the urea inside the membrane. The dissolved urea is released through the membrane with osmotic pressure based on soil temperature.
Tnue treated fertiliser gives you greater flexibility around the timing of application.
It releases nutrients in line with the plant's needs, improving growth while reducing nitrogen leaching, saving farmers time and resources.
WHEN IT’S WET: Tnue fertilisers are resilient to heavy rain fall events, reducing leaching.
WHEN IT’S DRY: Tnue treated nitrogen (N) is conserved until enough moisture is available.
WHEN IT’S COLD: Tnue’s membrane will delay release on cold soil, releasing only as soil temperatures and plant activity increases.
How it works
We take fertiliser and enhance it at Tnue’s plant, sealing each granule in our innovative micro-thin membrane.
Once applied to your pasture or crop, the membrane allows moisture to pass through.
Once inside, the moisture works to dissolve the granule.
Nutrients are then released slowly, matching your plants’ needs, reducing waste, and maximising growth.
